Both bikes come with a 360-watt hour battery, but DYU quotes a wider range of battery life for the D3+. Throttle-only mode should carry most riders 20 to 30 miles, although pedal-assist mode extends the range to 25 to 40 miles.

With a minimum seat height of 28″ and a maximum seat extension of 8 additional inches, the D3+ electric bike caters to riders who may not fit the smaller S2 comfortably. Make no mistake; the D3+ is still small, just less small.

Front and rear lights enhance safety when riding, while front and rear disc brakes help ensure stopping power. At less than $100 more than the S2, larger riders may want to invest in the DYU D3+ instead.

DYU R1 Electric Bike Overview

If you read the specs in the overview already, you might be wondering how a 180 watt-hour battery can keep going for up to 25 miles. Part of this magic is accomplished by the built-in torque sensor. Most affordably-priced ebikes use a less-sophisticated cadence sensor. By choosing a torque sensor instead, DYU is able to deliver power to the 250-watt motor more efficiently.

It’s also wise to take manufacturer’s range claims with a grain of salt. If you’re riding on a windy day or have a mix of hills and flat terrain, your mileage range may vary.

DYU cleverly conceals the battery in the seat post, which means you can remove the battery when you park the bike outside.
